Our Veterinarians

Dr. James W. Eubanks

Dr. James W. Eubanks, Owner / Veterinarian

Dr. James Eubanks is a native of South Carolina. He attended Clemson University for his pre-veterinary curriculum and went to the University of Georgia for his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After veterinary school, Dr. Eubanks was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiovascular research at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He established a private practice in Winston-Salem in 1963, with the hospital remaining at its present location since 1969. He is a member of the NCVMA, AVMA, and AAHA. Dr. Eubanks feels very fortunate to work in this great city.

Dr. Charlotte Kates Wilkins

Dr. Charlotte Kates Wilkins, Associate Veterinarian / Practice Manager

Dr. Charlotte Kates Wilkins was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC. She attended UNC Charlotte for two years, and then completed her undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University. She earned her Veterinary Medicine Degree at North Carolina State University. Upon graduation, she moved to Wilmington, NC and practiced there for a few years. She has recently relocated back to her hometown and joined our team as a full-time associate veterinarian and practice manager. Her special interests are in complicated internal medicine cases, geriatric medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, and client education. Dr. Wilkins and her husband are new parents to a handsome baby boy named Chase. In addition to many other activities, she enjoys boating, water skiing, and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.

Dr. Tim Strickland

Dr. Tim Strickland, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tim Strickland was born in Miami, FL. He graduated from Florida State University in 1979 and from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. His special interests are internal medicine and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. He also enjoys ultrasound and digital radiology. He is currently Director of Veterinary Medicine at Forsyth County Animal Control. Dr. Strickland is the father of two sons and four daughters, and he has one grandson. He currently resides in Winston-Salem with his wife Laura, his two youngest daughters, three dogs, three cats, and one fish. They love all outdoor activities, including fishing, golf, hiking, camping, volleyball, biking, and did I say golf? Oh yeah—they love the beach.

Susan Kennedy

Susan Kennedy

Susan is the head receptionist at Animal Hospital West. She has worked here for more than 2½ years. She has three children, ages 9, 7 and 6. She also has a Chihuahua named Mr. Bean and an orange tabby named Oscar. She enjoys cooking and baking, road trips, and spending time with her family.

Krista Brendle

Krista Brendle

Krista is a receptionist at Animal Hospital West. She has been with us for almost 9 months now. Krista recently married in March 2011 and is expecting her first baby in February 2012. She has two sweet pit bulls named Titan and Gracie. She spends most of her free time with her family and friends. Krista also enjoys watching her husband and step-dad race at Bowman Gray in the summer.

Allison Wright

Allison Wright

Allison is a full-time receptionist at Animal Hospital West. She has been married for a year and a half and is currently in school at Forsyth Tech for nursing. Allison has two dogs, Julian and Ben. She is trained in classical ballet and enjoys photography, animals, and art.

Veterinary Technicians

Robert Sanborn

Robert Sanborn

Bob is a technician at Animal Hospital West. He was born in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in High Point, NC. He has chosen to explore the veterinary technician field as a career because of his love for animals. He lives with his girlfriend and their 6 beautiful dogs.

Michael

Michael Aylor

Michael is a technician at Animal Hospital West, where he has worked for seven years. Michael graduated from Appalachian State University. He has two cats named PeeWee and Stewie.

Jennifer Wood

Jennifer Wood

Jennifer is a technician at Animal Hospital West. She has three Labrador retrievers: Birdie, Drake, and Harley. She is one of six kids and enjoys hunting and fishing in her spare time. She also attended UNC Charlotte and received a degree in English.

Cheyenne Van Buskirk

Cheyenne Van Buskirk

Cheyenne has been at Animal Hospital West for two years. She is a veterinarian technician assistant. She is currently going to school to become a licensed veterinarian assistant and receive a degree in criminal justice. She has two kittens named Sparta-Puss and Kit-Cat. She enjoys rock climbing and reading in her spare time.

Monica Collins

Monica has been at Animal Hospital West for six years. She is head kennel attendant. She has two dogs, Pooky and Max, and five cats, Autumn, Push Pop, Louie, Dutchess, and Claude. She enjoys photography in her spare time.

Steven Sutton

Steven Sutton

Steven has been working at Animal Hospital West since the summer of 2003. He works in the kennel, playing, walking, and bathing all of the many different animals that come in to board. He enjoys being able to spend lots of time caring for animals. Steven has a half golden retriever, half Samoyed mix named Sam.
